Mill Hill School Celebrating KS2 Attainment Score Achievements
Parents, Pupils and Staff Members at Mill Hill Primary School in Northallerton are celebrating their KS2 attainment score achievements.
Described by Ofsted in their latest review as a learning facility where 'Leaders and governors have developed a true ‘community school’, where parents and pupils feel welcomed and valued and the teachers care so much about the pupils', the school has ranked 13th in tables which compare primary schools’ performance across North Yorkshire.
In 2024, Mill Hill Primary School received an expected overall Reading, Writing and Maths score of 87% which is 26% higher than the national average of 61%.
Mill Hill has gone from strength to strength in recent years, achieving their ‘Good’ Ofsted review, and improving their overall KS2 outcomes so that they are now one of the highest achieving primary schools in the County.
In addition to their academic achievements, Mill Hill pupils have also recently received medals in the Northallerton Schools Swimming Gala and the Cross-Country Running event at Northallerton Leisure Centre showing their sporting prowess too.
Headteacher, Mrs Rebecca Bainbridge, has said of the recent achievements:

Stokesley School Netball Team Crowned Regional Champions
Stokesley School U14 Netball Team have been crowned regional champions and have qualified for the National Finals for the first time in 20 years.
The regional finals, which took place on the 1st February at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Sheffield, saw teams from across Yorkshire compete to be crowned the Regional Champions.
Several hard-fought matches, against tough opposition, saw the Stokesley U14’s win every one their seven games, earning them the title of Regional Champions and a qualifying place for the National Final.
Miss Stewart, Head of Girls’ P.E. at Stokesley School said of the team’s victory: “The team should extremely proud of their effort, attitude, resilience and support to each other throughout the day.
We would also like to thank all the local clubs the girls attend for their continued brilliant coaching and support, and the local schools in North Yorkshire who wished us luck and have sent messages of congratulations to the girls.
You can be sure the girls will give it all they've got in the finals.”
The team will now represent our region in the National Finals which take place in Sheffield on Saturday 22nd March, we wish them the best of luck as they continue their sporting success!
A Gold Medal Performance by Nunthorpe Academy Pupil
Distance runner Gabrielle has now secured several top-level titles including National Cross-Country Club Champion, English Schools Cross Country Champion and National Young Athletes 5km Champion.
The English Schools' Athletic Association (ESAA) is celebrating its centenary this year. In that time, Cleveland County has never won a gold medal, that is up until this month when distance running superstar and Nunthorpe Academy pupil Gabrielle secured the County's first ever gold at the English Schools Cross Country Championships in Sussex.
Distance runner Gabrielle has now secured several top-level titles including National Cross-Country Club Champion, English Schools Cross Country Champion and National Young Athletes 5km Champion.
The winning streak continues as year 9 student Gabrielle was recently selected to represent England at Falkirk (Scotland) in the SIAB championships, where she went the distance and secured another championship title. Gabrielle also competed against year 10 pupils from across the county, claiming third place in the London Mini Marathon which was featured on the BBC.
Gabrielle’s endurance, perseverance and dedication to the sport is inspiring to everyone in the school and the wider community. Nunthorpe Academy/Cleveland Schools AA Cross-County Team Manager Mr Bunn said of Gabrielle achievements “It’s incredible to have such a talented athlete within the academy who has performed at the highest level consistently this year. The progress she has made over the last 12 months highlights the amazing future she has in athletics through the dedication and enjoyment shown, I’m incredibly proud of her performances and to be there to witness her winning Gold at the English Schools championships in Sussex will never be forgotten”
Headteacher Mrs Kell has also said “It’s been amazing to hear the success stories with regard to Gabrielle’s achievements this year, at Nunthorpe we have had a great tradition of successful sports men and women who have performed at the highest level and we have a superstar in the making. On behalf of the academy we wish her well for the remainder of the year and future performances.”

ALT Schools Expand Their Nursery Provision to Welcome 2 Year Olds this September
Areté Learning Trust are pleased to announce the expansion to the age range of EYFS provision.
Areté Learning Trust are pleased to announce the expansion to the age range of EYFS provision in two of our primary schools, Helmsley Community Primary School and Mill Hill Primary School, as well as brand new nursery provision at Broomfield Primary School in Northallerton.
September 2025 will see the launch of the initiative which welcomes children into nursery from the age of two, following a recent decision made by the DfE. Designated areas will be adjusted to suit the newly implemented age-range and a high-quality, creative curriculum with a focus on play-based, explorative learning will provide young learners with the best possible start to their journey through education.
Mill Hill Primary School
Mill Hill Primary School, on Crosby Road, Northallerton is a hard-working, high-achieving primary school with nursery places currently offered to children aged 3 upwards. The school’s existing nursery provision is delivered by Early Years practitioners who have the appropriate qualifications and work to the adult to child ratios required to meet the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
The nursery will be opening another classroom to accommodate the increased cohort, Headteacher Mrs Bainbridge said of the expansion: “We’re delighted to share that we are opening a second classroom in our nursery to provide for two-year olds from September 2025.
This expansion allows us to provide for two, three and four-year olds in our fabulous Mill Hill Nursery.

Helmsley Primary School has an established, popular pre-school located on Carlton Lane in the heart of Helmsley.
At Helmsley Pre School they believe that the children should be at the centre of their learning.

Broomfield Primary School, Northallerton, are introducing preschool provision for the first time this September. Triple Triumph for Year 8 Pupils at Ryedale School!
Year 8 pupils at Ryedale have been crowned champions in not one but three sports over the last term!
Year 8 pupils at Ryedale have been crowned champions in not one but three sports over the last term! The school, known for it’s sporting excellence, continues to maintain their outstanding record of achievement as the current year 8 cohort are championship title winners in Netball, Basketball and Rugby.
The year 8 Rugby team became Scarborough and District Champions after they won all 6 of their games at the recent tournament held at Malton Rugby Club. The boys’ team showed off their sporting prowess, conceding only one try over the whole tournament, scoring a grand total of 41. The title recognises the talent and dedication of the team as well as the support they have received from team manager, parents and carers.


Meanwhile, the Year 8 girls’ Netball Team secured victory at the District Championships. Their gold-medal winning performance saw the team score 63 goals overall, conceding only 4 across the entire tournament. The team’s success continues to inspire students across the school and recently, the year 7 team also claimed a winning title at district level in their first ever tournament.

The schools’ trio of triumphs concludes with the Year 8 Basketball Team who this month, were crowned North Yorkshire County Champions. The team, frequently commended for their ongoing success in the sport, beat 53 school teams from across the County to secure the prestigious championship title. The team showed incredible dedication and sportsmanship throughout the tournament and remained an asset and outstanding example to the school.

We’re immeasurably proud of every one of the students, staff members, parents, carers and communities that have contributed to the sporting success at Ryedale School across the board. Long may the championship reign continue, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for these year 8 sports stars!
